Substance Use and Misuse

Pupils discuss the dangers of drugs and sort them into categories

At Terrace Road we support pupils to develop an understanding about the dangers in the home and outside environment. We aim to make pupils understand that medicines are taken to make them feel better and that some drugs are dangerous. Through fun, informative lessons pupils develop a better understanding about the ways we keep our bodies healthy and that some things are dangerous or harmful for us. We strive to ensure our pupils take an increasing responsibility for keeping themselves safe and healthy.

Pupils from Year 4 upwards are offered the opportunity to join a ‘Smoke Bugs’ club which provides them with regular anti smoking newsletters, games and activities. This helps to promote a healthy lifestyle from a young age.

PC Ellis, our local police liaison officer regularly takes lessons throughout the school discussing the dangers unprescribed medication and drug misuse.
